My senior year of high school I was a yearbook photographer, at least in title. I was a bit of a slacker, but figured I would someday get back to taking pictures. My friend Micah DeMoux graduated in photography and he has let me tag along with him on a couple of picture taking trips. I have enjoy it quite a bit and would like to continue to shoot stuff.

And speaking of nothing, have you seen shop.spack.net?

timelapse

Pretty well my whole life I have been interested in film. Not too long ago, I bought a Canon GL1 digital camcorder to help encourage me to write, film and heck distribute, my stuff. I did write a short screenplay but have yet to get much of it filmed. So, that's why I have the GL1. I really like time lapse stuff, and figured I would try and use my camera a bit to shoot some. I really like clouds. Mix that with liking time lapse and you get the below.
Afton, Wyoming sunset

A couple friend of mine used to live in lovely Afton, Wyoming. I went up with them and visited just before they moved, and shot this sunset, overlooking the town.

mowing my lawn

One of my concerns in purchasing a home was having to mow the lawn each week. Well, it turns out you don't have to do it weekly, and I sort of like it. You can mow in different patterns and the like. It doesn't generally go this fast though.

Salt Lake clock tower

Seems to me like a picture of clouds timelapsed behind a big clock is about the quintessential timelapse image. Got something moving fast and something moving slow I guess. Plus you got clouds, which I am all for.
Salt Lake City library one way  another way

Micah, my brother Trent and I were in Salt Lake and some of my friends had commented on how cool the new slc library was, so we stopped by to see it. We concurred. I thought it had timelapse written all over it. I would like to go again when the lighting is a little cooler, but this turned out ok.

Salt Lake City traffic

A little while ago, while visiting salt lake, I noticed a couple streets you could look down and see for miles. I figured it would be a cool thing to shoot in time lapse. So here you go.

  • just south of the capital, west side of the street, looking southward down the valley
  • timelapsed 43 minutes 19 seconds into 29 seconds (c. 100x)
Salt Lake City walking back to my car plus

After shooting the above, I walked through the park across the street, back to my car which was by the capital, got in my car and started to drive home.
